No longer the new kid on the block because this blogger is a year old. I started actively lurking the blogosphere late 2005. February 2006, I made Communicators Anonymous a reality. The tenure of the blog was only to be through completion of my master thesis, but CA took on a life of its own. Ethics has driven the message. CA has found its voice, though it took some time. In the beginning, Paul Greenberg advised me to chill and write naturally. This is a conversation despite the text.
What have I learned? I started with a chip on my shoulder and have settled into blogosphere reality. Everyone is on an equal playing field here. Read...shut-up and listen and contribute when you have something worth to say. There are back channels to personally know bloggers. They are real people just like you and me and generally are extremely friendly.
Nobody's Perfect - that is, according to Deborah Acona in Computerworld, 5 February 2007. My IT co-worker pointed this article out to me. Thank you.
The myth of the complete leader goads some mangers into a futile effort to be all things to all people. The result can be damaging to the person and the organization.
Leadership has a framework of four capabilities:
- Sensemaking - Understand the culture in which you are working (Now that is something I learned quickly in the blogosphere...this realm is a different world.)
- Relating - Build solid relationships within and across the organization (I have had the pleasure of meeting people from all over the world. Each voice is unique. Great friendships have blossomed and so has my career growth.)
- Visioning - Focus (Communicators Anonymous fills a much needed niche in PR to discuss ethics in a twelve step program.)
- Inventing - Create new structures and processes to get to the vision (CA promotes ethics advocacy in each post promoting the CA twelve step program.)
I am blessed to be part of a blogosphere community with great visionaries. There are no boundaries of age, race, gender or location. I would like to send a special thanks to Kami Huyse who is Super Woman and has always made time to talk to me and guide me. I do not have gold stars awarded for the four leadership capabilities; I am an incomplete leader. What do I do next? Learn my strengths, admit my weaknesses and find those who can compliment and balance out the qualities I do not have.
CA Twelve Step Program is going back to basics and will continue to drive future messages posted.
Congratulations on your blogging anniversary. Do you have any goals for your blog's next 52 weeks?

Hey Lauren; It has been fun getting to know you. Happy birthday and thanks for your vision of leadership. I can learn a thing or two I think :-) As for Superwoman, I think that you overestimate my powers - lol!

Hi Lauren,
Congrats on your one year anniversary! You definitely found your voice - and you did it pretty fast. I know bloggers and authors who take years. You did it in just a couple of months. I'm impressed. And, it looks good too!!!

Thank you to all!
I have big plans for the blog in 2007. I drifted away from using the CA 12 Step references, but now I am going back to the "book". Hopefully, my application for presentation at the PRSA convention on the steps will fuel the content. The focus of all posts will be mid-management learning and how we can influence both the young and vets.
